India Stars Fail To Recognise AI-Generated Sooryavanshi In Viral 1980s Makeover

With a wave of nostalgia taking over social media, people are using artificial intelligence to imagine themselves in the 1980s. The Indian cricket team has also joined the trend. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared AI-generated images of the Indian players, recreating the fashion, hairstyles, and photography styles associated with the 1980s, and recorded their reactions. As the players went through the pictures, they failed to recognise the AI-generated image of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.

Watch the video here:

The popular photo-editing trend going viral has seen users turn ordinary selfies into retro portraits that look as though they were pulled straight from an old family album or a Bollywood studio shoot.

The Indian cricket team players will be in action from Sunday, with the first T20I of the three-match series against Afghanistan.

India face a dilemma over whether to opt for 'Boy Wonder' Sooryavanshi's no-holds-barred aggression or stick with the experience and unmatched flair of Sanju Samson as they take on Afghanistan in the opening game.

While Sooryavanshi was drafted into the playing XI in England at the expense of Samson, it is only fair to mention that, by the last match of the series, the 15-year-old had to make way for his senior partner's return.

It is not a straightforward choice, although Samson-Abhishek Sharma is a more stable T20I pair that has done fairly well. One can only hope that Gambhir and skipper Shreyas Iyer will give equal chances to both Samson and Sooryavanshi, if possible, before finalising the XI for the Asian Games matches in Japan.

During Friday's evening net session, Samson did look slightly more in control compared to Sooryavanshi, who got a masterclass from Jasprit Bumrah on how to face quick bowling with movement off the surface. It could have been a case of the youngster taking time to adjust after playing three back-to-back red-ball games.

Also, Sooryavanshi could take the Afghan attack to the cleaners, with none of the opposition bowlers remotely close to Bumrah's quality. The pace at which they bowl could also suit Sooryavanshi's minimal footwork and stand-and-deliver game.

In Samson's case, dropping him in England after just three failures in a high-risk format seemed unfair. But the Sooryavanshi euphoria had reached such a stage that the team management had to listen to popular demand, despite its stated resolve to remain insulated from outside noise.

But there could be a scenario where both Sooryavanshi and Samson end up playing if Ishan Kishan, who had a back injury scare during Friday evening's net session, is ruled out of the game.

With Virender Sehwag Example, England Great Blasts Pak Over Saim Ayub Stunt

A golden duck followed a 10-ball duck as Saim Ayub's return to the Pakistan Test team backfired dramatically. The young opening batter was brought to the team ahead of the third and final Test against England at Edgbaston. The result was him getting a pair over the two innings, failing to even open his account in the 11 balls he faced. On both occasions, it was England pacer Ollie Robinson who showed him the way to the dressing room. Having flown in straight from the Caribbean Premier League (a T20 league in the West Indies), Ayub's unpreparedness was duly exposed, and former England captain Nasser Hussain feels the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee is to be blamed for this stunt.

In his blunt analysis of Pakistan's second innings as the touring side lost 2 wickets for 52 runs by stumps on Day 2, Hussain said that Ayub shouldn't have been a part of this Pakistan side.

"The truth is he shouldn't be here. He came from the CPL and hasn't played first-class cricket in some time," Hussain said during a post-day show on Sky Sports.

"I don't know who thinks it's the right thing to fly someone over from foreign conditions, playing a completely different format, and think they're going to be fine in these conditions against a Dukes ball, against Ollie Robinson and England's bowling attack," Hussain asserted, explaining why Ayub was destined to fail in these conditions against a team of the calibre of England.

The PCB has courted plenty of criticism of late for its casual approach, chop-and-change decision-making over selection of players and coaches. Hussain feels that the manner in which the Pakistan board is operating, it shows the people in charge aren't giving Test cricket the respect it deserves.

"It is just a sort of disrespect and disregard for Test match cricket. Test match cricket, as any cricketer will tell you, is the toughest format. Batting at the top of the order in England is the toughest task, and you just feel you can fly someone in from some part of the world and go, Good luck," he said.

Hussain also highlighted what the results were when India once did the same, flying in Virender Sehwag into the squad without adequate match practice in English conditions. The result was him getting a pair. To expect Ayub to produce better results, hence, shows Pakistan's amateur approach.

"Virender Sehwag tried it on this ground, if you remember... they flew him in. Virender Sehwag got a pair, and that's Virender Sehwag, who's a better, more experienced player than Saim," highlighted Hussain.

"So a bit of responsibility goes to the lad for the shot he played. But also, whoever thought that was a seriously good decision and that he was going to go okay this week?"

Rani Mukerji Awarded For Her Contribution To Cinema, Speaks In Marathi

Over the years, actor Rani Mukerji has taken on a wide range of roles and delivered each of them with sincerity. The Chalte Chalte star has been honoured with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award for her contribution to cinema. The recognition came as Rani completed three decades in the film industry. The 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards ceremony was held in Mumbai, bringing together several noted names from the Marathi and Hindi film industries. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar honoured the award winners at the ceremony.

Dressed in a gorgeous green sari with a broad red border, Rani stole the spotlight. She paired the traditional look with green bangles, a mangalsutra and a gajra, completing the elegant ensemble.

Rani's words after receiving the award struck a chord with the audience. The actor spoke in Marathi and opened up about what made the recognition particularly special for her.

Namaskar, for me, Maharashtra is not just a state. Maharashtra is my birthplace and it is also my workplace. This is an inseparable part of my life. I was born in this very city and grew up here. This is our very own Mumbai, the city of dreams. It was here that I learned the lessons of life, and it was also this city that taught me about cinema.”

The Black actor also mentioned that she has experienced everything here, both success and failure. And that's why today's honour is special to her. “Because I have received this honour from my own people. I took my first step into this industry at a very young age. At that time, I did not have anyone's support. I simply continued doing all my work with all my heart. For me, cinema is a medium through which we understand people,” Rani added.

Devendra Fadnavis, while speaking at the ceremony, highlighted the importance of Marathi cinema and theatre. He said that the state government was preparing an action plan to make more cinema halls available for Marathi films.

“This award will always have a special place in my heart. Because whenever I look at this award, I will always remember my Mumbai and my Maharashtra. Please continue to shower me with your love and blessings. Thank you so much! Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra!”

The studio has a reputation for telling safe and sanitised stories in its games, but it needed to find a darker edge for a character like Logan. Marvel's Wolverine fails to do that.

BCCI Breaks Silence On Team India's Asian Games Accommodation Controversy

The Indian cricketers competing at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan will stay at the designated accommodation arranged by the Organising Committee though they are not the five-star hotels they usually get on foreign tours, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said on Tuesday. Shukla said the issue on the accommodation of the hotels for the cricketers had arisen due to the scarcity of top-rated hotels in Nagoya. He, however, said accommodation of the cricketers was not a big issue and the BCCI and the players are satisfied with the arrangement.

"Whatever they (organisers) are providing, we are staying there and we are keeping a watch what kind of accommodation is being given so that our players are comfortable. Definitely those are not of five-star but a good accommodation," Shukla said at the send-off ceremony of the Indian contingent .

"Whatever has been offered to our cricketers that accommodation we have got the photographs all the way and the videos also of that, so I think it's comfortable. They (cricketers) will be going and staying there because otherwise the options were to make them stay in Osaka or Tokyo that's far away." Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha also said that the problem has been sorted out but there still remains some lack of clarity over who booked the rooms for the cricketers.

"No problem, I think. We have already booked (the hotels). For every player, we cannot book hotel rooms because the accommodation is (not) like (Athletes') Village. They (organisers) are providing a ship and small villas also," Usha told PTI.

"We also booked the hotel rooms for the players (other athletes). And the cricketers, BCCI, also have booked the hotel for them. Whatever the best hotel is there in Nagoya or Japan, whatever it is, the best one, the cricketers will get it, just like others (other athletes) get." Shukla said that the cricketers will not be staying at the twin-sharing rooms but in separate ones. The team will leave for Tokyo on September 20 and play a historic T20 against Japan on September 22. India open their Asian Games campaign on September 28.

"The problem was that Nagoya hasn't got many hotels. Tokyo is one and a half hour by bullet train, so is Osaka. But in the Asian Games, all the participants are like families, it doesn't look nice that some teams stay in Tokyo and some in Osaka so it has been decided that our players will live at hotel accommodation there (at Nagoya)." He sought to downplay the accommodation issue, saying the the main issue was the condition of the ground, wickets and dressing rooms.

"The big issue big issue was the ground, wicket and dressing rooms. They (organisers) have addressed those things. Asian Cricket Council's team had gone there and now they (ACC team) are satisfied with the ground, the wickets and dressing rooms, everything is fine." Asked who has arranged the accommodation of the cricketers, Shukla said, "That's being organized by Indian Olympic Association, Asian Games Organising Committee and Japan Cricket Association.

"At the ACC meeting in Bangkok, which I had also participated, 52 representatives from various countries were there. We had a full presentation by Japanese representative and he has assured us that all the arrangements will be made keeping in mind the comfort of the players. They have provided the hotels. If there are gaps or loopholes we will address it." He, however, refused to comment on the details of the hotels the players will stay.

"I haven't got hotels detail, so I cannot comment on that but definitely comfortable accommodation will be provided." India are the defending champions in both the men's and women's competition in the last Asian Games in China.

"India will definitely do well there. We also have a match on September 22 (India vs Japan for Suzuki Cup). It will be the first match in Japan. It's being organized very well as far as Asian Games are concerned. We sending our B team is complete rumour. Or full contingent is going with the most talented players and I hope that we'll definitely win."

"Look At Yourself": Ex-Pak Captain Continues Blame Game, Slams PCB Selector

Former captain Azhar Ali has expressed deep dismay over the ongoing crisis in Pakistan cricket following the team making wholesale changes to its squad on the ongoing Test tour of England, adding that the side has become consistent in the most negative way. Azhar's scathing assessment comes in the wake of severe fallout after heavy defeats at Headingley and Lord's, which saw head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul being relieved of their duties and seven players sent home. The turmoil has drawn widespread criticism, with Shahid Afridi calling it ‘the most shocking decision ever' and Misbah-ul-Haq resigning as a selector in protest.

"People used to say you could expect anything from Pakistan – that any team could turn up on any given day and either be 46 all out or win from nowhere. But we don't even do that inconsistency any more. We've become totally consistent – in the most negative way.

“Cricket in Pakistan needs proper care and a vision that gives hope to a nation on the brink of losing their appetite. If we don't pull our socks up, we won't be able to bring people back. You cannot lose hope but the signs are not good," Azhar was quoted as saying by The Guardian on Monday.

Azhar, who played 97 Tests, specifically called out High Performance Director and senior selector Aaqib Javed for trying to distance himself from the squad's poor performances. "We have had bad decisions like these for three years now. He should take responsibility for performances. His judgment should be questioned. I listened to his interview this week and he was trying to put the blame on Sarfaraz and Babar.

“He appointed them just a few months earlier! That was enough for me to judge someone. Every decision he makes backfires and he then says: ‘It's not me.' Look at yourself first. And if you cannot control this team, if you cannot make a difference to Pakistan cricket, then step away."

Azhar also sympathised with captain Azam, who has struggled for making runs in recent years and leading the side with an unstable team management. "It is probably the worst time to captain Pakistan right now,. He has to consider his options too, I believe. Every player goes through periods of low scores but as a nation we just kept expecting him to deliver and criticism followed.

“It has played on his mind and he has doubted himself, while lacking any internal support. I don't think he is as mentally strong as Misbah or, say, Younis Khan. Misbah was not as talented as Babar but he was far tougher. Younis faced criticism but never lost his targets. Everyone is different though. We have to realise that and create an environment where he can flourish, not be pulled back."

Azhar, who worked as Pakistan's head of youth development before stepping down last year, concluded by saying that any turnaround of the side would require patience and structured administrative backing.

"We need a settled structure and one where people are hired and backed for three-to-four years. Right now the under-19s, for example, are leaderless. But that role is arguably more important than the head coach of the senior side. We know where this Test team is currently and have to accept that.

“But major work done by competent people in the pathway – that is how we come back. It's not about quick fixes. We cannot change in the space of a year. That's impossible. But four to five? I believe the talent is there to make it happen."

I Miss My Long Hair': Haaland Opens Up On New Look, But Reveals Positive

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland admitted he misses his long hair but said he felt it was time for a change after showing off a new short haircut this season. Haaland spoke about his new look after scoring the winning goal in City's 1-0 Premier League victory over Coventry City, a win that helped his side maintain their unbeaten streak in the ongoing season. The Norway international has been sporting a much shorter hairstyle since the start of the season. Asked about the change, Haaland said he was enjoying the new look, though he missed his trademark long hair.

“It's much easier. I think it was time for a change. I like it. Of course, I miss my long hair, but it was time for a change and, so far, I've enjoyed it. It will grow back and be long again, hopefully,” Haaland told ESPN Brazil as quoted by Goal.com.

The striker also looked back on Norway's memorable World Cup victory over Brazil, in which he scored twice. Haaland said the win was especially meaningful for Norway because of the history between the two teams.

“It was a special game for Norway, because the last time we played in the World Cup we also played against Brazil, and Norway is the only team Brazil has never beaten. So it was special,” he said.

“Of course it was a special game. We won; it was amazing. It was the best match we've played in our history because of the way we controlled the game. It's special to play against a great nation, the country of football, where everyone is passionate about the sport. It was special; it's a great memory, and, once again, sorry. Sorry for the defeat, but that's football,” he added.

Haaland then turned his attention to Manchester City's revamped squad and backed the club's new signings to settle quickly.

City have brought in several players over the summer as they look to build a strong squad for the new season. Haaland believes players such as Enzo Fernandez and Elliot Anderson already understand the demands of top-level football.

“Time will tell. We have a lot of new players who know the level. Enzo Fernandez knows what it takes to win titles, was already playing in the Premier League, and slotted straight into the team,” he said.

“The same with Elliot Anderson. He played in the Premier League for a long time and has played for the England national team, so he knows what it's like to play for a big club,” Haaland added.

City will now face a busy period, with European action, followed by a Manchester derby and a Carabao Cup fixture against Norwich City.

White House Reviews Candidates To Potentially Replace Steve Feinberg

Senior officials at the White House have been quietly vetting potential replacements for Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg.

Reuters reported that the vetting effort dates back to at least June, with two of its sources saying White House officials had sounded out senior Senators on whether prospective nominees could win confirmation.

One source indicated the exercise was still active as recently as late August, though the outlet could not pin down exactly when the search began or who was being considered.

The administration, meanwhile, insists no such process exists and that Feinberg remains firmly in his post.

Both the White House and the Pentagon rejected the report outright. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly dismissed the sourcing behind the story, while Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said Feinberg had his complete backing and was "doing a tremendous job."

The Pentagon separately denied that any replacement search was under way and declined to make Feinberg available to comment directly.

Should Feinberg eventually depart, it would represent the most senior casualty yet in a Pentagon that has already churned through several top officials under Hegseth.

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll stepped down this week after a prolonged rift with the defence secretary, following earlier exits by Navy Secretary John Phelan and multiple senior Army figures.

Much of the internal friction traces back to the private-equity billionaire's struggle to deliver on a pledge to speed up US munitions output, a goal complicated, analysts say, by a defence-industrial base that cannot expand output fast enough and by Congress's sluggish pace in approving funding.

ALSO READ: Iran Nuclear Site In Trump's Crosshairs? US President Warns Pickaxe Mountain Could Be Hit Soon

The Washington Post reported this month that Hegseth privately blamed Feinberg during a meeting with Trump at Camp David for allowing stocks of long-range missiles and air-defence interceptors to fall. The White House has rejected that account.

Feinberg has also faced questions on Capitol Hill. Senator Elizabeth Warren has raised concerns over whether his former firm, Cerberus Capital Management, could benefit from Pentagon contracts linked to the Golden Dome missile-defence programme.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said Feinberg had fully left Cerberus and no longer handled any dealings between the firm and the department.

The scrutiny comes as Trump has become increasingly frustrated with the six-month-old war with Iran and the lack of a breakthrough, even as he has publicly played down concerns about depleted US munitions.

British Teacher Accused Of Sex With 16-Year-Old Student Faces Trial

A British PE teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student allegedly told him to call her "Miss' when they were alone, prosecutors told a court. Bronwen James, 30, is accused of having sex with the teenager while she was working as a physical education teacher at Bitterne Park School in Southampton, England. She denies the charges, New York Post reported.

Prosecutor Edward Culver told Winchester Crown Court that James initially rejected the student's attempts to add her on Snapchat but later accepted his request. The two allegedly began exchanging messages, which prosecutors described as flirtatious.

"They started to message each other. The messages became flirtatious. The two met up and went to Weston Shore. They kissed in the car," the prosecutors said.

On one occasion, while Wimbledon tennis was being shown on television, the pair allegedly "kissed and touched each other before having sex." Prosecutors also alleged that James developed a "sexually charged relationship" with the teenager, telling him she loved him and wanted the two of them to move away together.

The student reportedly told the court that he initially believed the relationship was "good" but later came to believe that he had been groomed.

The prosecution further claims James wanted the teenager to address her as "Miss" during their private encounters.

The alleged incidents took place while James was teaching at Bitterne Park School. She faces four charges relating to sexual activity with the boy, BBC reported.  James has denied the allegations and gave a prepared statement to the court.

The trial was interrupted on Wednesday after the jury was discharged. The case has been adjourned until Thursday, when a new jury is expected to be sworn in.

Messi vs Ronaldo GOAT Debate Settled, Says Piers Morgan. Gives Bizarre Reason

As Lionel Messi brings down the curtain on his international career, he ends a glorious chapter with one FIFA World Cup and two Copa America titles. In comparison, his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo has only one major title to celebrate with Portugal, the 2016 UEFA European Championship. Messi's exit from international football has reignited the ultimate GOAT debate, with the football world still divided between him and Ronaldo, who created a duopoly in the sport for about 15 years. While many feel Messi edges the debate, British journalist Piers Morgan believes the Argentine maestro's international retirement has shifted the debate in Ronaldo's favour.

When Messi announced his retirement from international football on Monday, Morgan took to X (formerly Twitter) to compare the Argentine's national team goal tally with Ronaldo's. For Morgan, the fact that Ronaldo has scored more goals in international football than Messi is enough to settle the GOAT debate in the Portuguese star's favour.

"Breaking: Lionel Messi retires from international football, after scoring 125 goals for the Argentina national team, placing him second on the list of highest international goalscorers."

"Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 146 goals for the Portugal national team, the highest figure in the history of football at the international level. This settles the debate over who is the best player in history."

Confirming his decision to step away from international football, Messi stated that he had decided to end his Argentina chapter two days after the heartbreaking defeat in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. However, he chose to postpone the announcement due to the health of his father, who passed away on 8 August.

"I wrote these words on July 21, two days after the final. Today, after what happened with my dad, I am more convinced than ever," he wrote at the end of the note posted regarding his retirement.

"It was a decision that hurt, and still hurts deeply, but I understand that the time has come," Messi said on his official Instagram account. "I swear to you that I always gave it my all, not just in these last few years when we won everything, but before that too. I always fought and left everything on the field for this jersey, to bring you joy and make you feel proud to be Argentine through football."
